Our Sliding Scale Program

Our Sliding Scale Program
At Stratus Prep, we firmly believe that all students should have the opportunity to get into the best possible law school. We are dedicated to working with all students, regardless of their current financial situation, to make this a reality.

Through our Sliding Scale Program, depending on your income/financial aid status, you can receive a scholarship for up to ~40% of the cost of our LSAT preparation and Law School Admissions Services.

How do I qualify?

It is easy to qualify for a Sliding Scale Scholarship, please simply bring in or scan and email to us a copy of your most recent personal tax return and your last pay stub (if you are working) or a copy of your current financial aid award letter (if you are a student). You may submit this information when signing up and paying the deposit or on the first day of class when the balance of your tuition is due. In either case, the scholarship will be applied to the balance due not the deposit.

The amount of your Sliding Scale Scholarship is determined using the following criteria:

If you are currently working full-time: Your Annual Gross Income (that would be what you make before any taxes are taken out including any overtime). If you are currently unemployed, please provide a copy of your latest Unemployment Insurance Statement in lieu of your latest pay stub in addition to last year’s tax return; we will use your income from Unemployment as your salary data for the period since you left your last job.

If you are currently a student: The percentage of the Student Budget (a federally-mandated figure determined by your school which includes tuition, room, board, and expenses) that is covered by need-based grants (merit-based grants and loans unfortunately cannot be counted in calculating this percentage).

If you were a student last year and graduated and are now working or unemployed, please note that we will calculate your Sliding Scale rate for last year using the student method and this year using the work method and then average them to determine if you qualify for scholarship and, if so, the size of the scholarship.

If you income changed significantly between last year and this year, please note that we will calculate your Sliding Scale rate for each year and then average these to determine the size of your scholarship (if you qualify for one).

Please note that this is a scholarship program not a discount program. As such, we are required by our auditors to maintain meticulous records of scholarships awarded and individuals’ qualification documents. Furthermore, we must adhere exactly to the parameters specified herein when qualifying students for scholarships.
